St Joseph's Parish, Brighton

Faith

Our Catholic faith affirms that we are created with love for love.  Every family is a gift from God and our children are the greatest gift.

McAuley Community School is a welcoming, inclusive Catholic community. Everybody's welcome!

We live, learn and lead in service of each other and our community.  We are passionate about social justice and the future sustainability of God's world.

We believe in a holistic approach to developing young hearts and minds.

Our Parish

St Joseph's is our local parish within walking distance from McAuley to Strathmore Terrace, Brighton.

We are delighted to welcome Parish Priest, Fr Michael Musyoka Kyumu and Assistant Priest Fr Prathap Katta regularly to McAuley to celebrate year level masses in our Chapel and whole school masses in the McAuley Gym. Families are always welcome to join us.

The Parish vision is 'To be a people of God working together to build a caring, faith-filled community'.

Sacramental Program

Our Assistant Principal Religious Identity and Mission (APRIM) works closely with the Brighton Parish Pastoral Associate to celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation, Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.

Our approach is based on the understanding and acknowledgment that parents and families are the key faith educators of their children. Our parish-based and school-supported program aim to support parents in the preparation of their child to celebrate the sacraments.

Our Sacramental preparation is a very special time for the whole parish community. Parent Information sessions and Parent/Child workshops are held out of school hours prior to celebrating the sacraments.  Parents and children meet with other families in small groups, undertaking small group activities, discussions and simple homework tasks over a period of a few weeks. In this way, small communities of families get to know each other and celebrate together.
